757 native Raycizm, 20, offers a solid showcase of his lyrical talent in his first project, INtuition. The EP is a raw, yet cohesive body of work that provides a college boy’s vantage point on this journey called life. INtuition begins with “Welcome Family,” which is a sound bite from Raycizm as he meets his college roommate, Bush Ankles, for the first time. In the background, a Nujabes beat plays, which also happens to be the same beat used in the theme song of popular anime TV show Samurai Shamploo.
As the project progresses, Raycizm’s lyrical prowess is revealed more and more. Personally, his strongest track lyrically is “Trunks Freestyle,” which is a lyrical onslaught complemented with a looped beat from TDE’s Isaiah Rashad’s song “Soliloquy”. INtuition is littered with comical dialogue between Raycizm and his friends, which surprisingly provide effective transition points. Other standouts on the project are “The Laureate Part 1,” which samples a J. Dilla beat, “Shogun” and “Parachute”. The project was produced mainly by RVA producer Afrocat.
While, this may not be the cleanest body of work, it is definitely a raw showcase of the Raycizm’s charismatic yet, finesse delivery complemented with a diverse culmination of beats. Despite this, Raycizm’s upside as far as talent goes, is very promising.
